Intermolecular Forces
Intermolecular ForcesThese forces are observed due to the chemical interaction between the atoms and they happen on a microscopic level. For example, hydrogen peroxide is a yellowish liquid that is inorganic and is found naturally in the atmosphere. It is composed of one proton, one electron and one neutron. The hydrogen peroxide molecule has two hydrogen atoms bonded to it and the electrons are held by the oxygen atoms on the two sides of the molecule. Due to the fact that the molecular bonds hold together, this means that the molecules are very fragile, so even little variation in temperature and pressure can cause them to separate. If you were to apply pressure to one side, the hydrogen peroxide would separate. Now, what about if you apply pressure to both sides? When the hydrogen peroxide molecules are made stable, they will hold the electrons in their place and they would come back together when the pressure is reduced. In this way, the hydrogen peroxide molecules have the ability to form stable bonds. This ability to form bonds with other molecules is actually what makes them so powerful. So, if we understand these processes, we can understand the intermolecular forces. There are many different ways that these intermolecular forces come into play. Most of the time, these forces occur in the solid material but there are times where they can occur in the liquid, like water. In the liquid, there are three ways these forces can occur: electrostatic attraction, liquid deprotonation and electrokinetic forces.Electrostatic Attraction: Electrostatic attraction occurs when the molecules of a liquid or solid state are positively charged and the atoms of the other molecules are negatively charged. When these two particles combine they make a short circuit and this causes the neighboring atoms to get electrically attracted to them. The liquid will start to move along the circuit. Now, there is a limit to how fast a liquid can move through a circuit. The liquid will stop if the length of the wire does not permit it to move any faster.Liquid Deprotonation: Also known as the reversible or the saturation, the process of the liquid deprotonation can occur under normal circumstances. The liquid deprotonates as a result of the change in the orientation of the molecules. As the liquid deprotonates, the remaining molecules of the liquid or solid state will tend to move to their normal positions. Now, what happens if the molecules will move faster than the atoms in the liquid or solid state can be maintained? There will be a point at which the liquid will get 'saturated' and will then begin to move, but as the liquid's center, the solute's center will be disrupted. The solute or the liquid will become displaced from its location and the atoms of the other molecules will get attracted to it. The fact that there are many different types of liquid deprotonation means that there are many different ways for them to occur. In summary, we can see that these intermol ecular forces are very important to us and our lives. The following links give some examples of their behavior. The intermolecular forces are part of a mechanism that can make atoms stick together and form chains.

Martin Chemistry WorkNotes - An Introduction
Martin Chemistry WorkNotes - An IntroductionThe next generation of chemistry workbooks provides students with the latest in instructional methods and technologies. On the surface, there is not much that should stand out from Martin Chemistry WorkNotes, except the fact that they seem to be doing their job well. The approach is less experimental and more passive. This is good for most students because it allows them to learn at their own pace.Martin Chemistry WorkNotes includes working models and text. Students are able to use the working models in addition to the actual content of the lesson. For the student who prefers some extra help, the book also contains interactive lesson plans that will make it easy for the student to understand the lesson, as well as the story and teacher's notes. There are also video lessons that explain the key concepts and help students make connections. These video lessons are presented in English and the French translations have been carefully done. The bi ggest difference between Martin Chemistry WorkNotes and the Martin Chemistry reference is the inclusion of technology. Technology used in the reference is limited to a program that reproduces the main ingredients of the book but does not use them. In contrast, technology in Martin Chemistry WorkNotes is dynamic. In addition to the technology found in Martin Chemistry WorkNotes, this new edition provides two other features that were featured in the first edition. One of the features is a new option that allows the student to make changes to the displayed text. The second feature is that there is now an option to use a chart to display graph results. When students choose to use the interactive options in Martin Chemistry WorkNotes, the book provides several techniques to make the lesson easily understood. One of these techniques is called 'grounded' text. This feature uses a combination of dynamic and static graphs to help the students see the actual relationship between the variables. This technique can help the students to see the variable's dependence on others and how that relationship affects the final output. Finally, the interactivity in Martin Chemistry WorkNotes was a feature that was added in the first edition of the book. This new edition has an option that provides students with a text box that allows them to enter a response, for example, whether they agree or disagree with the demonstration. The other interactive feature in this edition is the ability to save the text and the graph into a portable file. This allows the student to take the information home and use it later.Martin Chemistry WorkNotes is a reference designed for use in the classroom. It provides students with the tools needed to learn and understand the chemical process. It also provides a 'learning at your own pace' feature that is useful for most students.

Are You Willing To Fail At Work Because You Didnt Solve a Co-Worker Problem 9 Tips for Fixing a Tricky People Problem - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / Are You Willing To Fail At Work Because You Didnât Solve a Co-Worker Problem 9 Tips for Fixing a Tricky âPeople Problemâ - Introvert Whisperer Are You Willing To Fail At Work Because You Didnât Solve a Co-Worker Problem? 9 Tips for Fixing a Tricky âPeople Problemâ Most of us are extremely proud of our problem-solving prowess. As our experience has grown, so has our ability to solve increasingly complex business issues. We can see around the next corner. Itâs a very satisfying skill to have. Yet, all too often we seem to retreat when we face the issue of a problem with a co-worker. Our problem solving can go out the door when faced with the possibility of a confrontation or unpleasant discussion. Itâs understandable; Iâve seen high-level executives in big Fortune 500 companies have the same avoidance behavior. That doesnât make it right nor does it make for an effectively run business. You will sooner or later be faced with a tricky âpeople problemâ, creating some difficult decisions for you to make. As a peer to a troublesome co-worker, you are faced with tough choices. You can: Leave your job to find another one where this person isnât working. Make up for the impact to you â" in other words, do two jobs. Do nothing and risk the potential of getting fired because the impact is too great. Figure out how to solve the problem. The best choice is solving the problem. Let me also point out that any person who can effectively solve a âperson problemâ is leadership material. People who can do the tough things get noticed. Many of the same solid problem-solving steps you use with business issues can be used for addressing a problem with a peer. The only addition to your steps is that eventually, you will have to engage this person in some way in order for your solutions to work. Itâs the personal engagement that most people want to sidestep. Yet, you really shouldnât if you want to avoid being fired. Letâs look at what makes these issues harder to tackle and what you can do: Face off. Eventually, you will have to engage with this person about the problem. Most of us are ill-equipped to communicate in person on tough issues. We were always taught to be âniceâ. You can be pleasant and still meet with this person; in fact, you will be more effective if you are. What will you say? Be methodical just like when solving other problems. Really drill down on what behaviors you observe that create problems and be clear on what the problems or impact truly are. When you can focus on what you can observe, communicating improves. Donât wait until youâre ticked off. All too often we wait so long for a problem to fester that we go from irritated to mad. Being angry or emotional when you speak with someone will not work well for either of you. You will most likely be incoherent and the other person will not listen because of how emotional you are with them. Trying to solve a people problem after youâve done this will require advanced interactive skills that you may not have. Script out what you want to say. If you write down the key points of what you want to convey and to accomplish with your interaction, it will be more comfortable and effective for you. Keep in mind that practice does make perfect, especially for things that you donât do very often, like dealing with people issues. Be clear on the outcome. What do you really want to see change? Is it possible or is it a pipedream? If you canât specifically identify what needs to be different, it will be impossible for another person to change. Donât seek out ânothing statementsâ like: change your attitude or donât be a jerk. Those things say nothing and are not actionable. If you want the person to offer suggestions and alternatives rather than complaining about a problem, say that. Assume the best. Most people really want to be successful and get along no matter how you might see them. Most people also lack great insight when it comes to their own behavior. Attack the problem, not the person. Keep as many personal things out of the conversation as possible. Focus on the behavior that needs to change and what outcomes you are looking for. Ask for a commitment. You canât lecture someone into improving. You need their buy-in and commitment to new actions. You should consider a follow-up point so you have an opportunity to give feedback and reinforce good behaviors. It will also make your discussions part of an ongoing dialogue. Look for a win for them. Chances are high that no one has ever spent any time trying to help this person improve. Think of what youâre doing as something that is likely to extend far beyond your immediate concerns. People problems may be tricky to fix, but it can be done. It doesnât have to be the worst-case scenario either if you approach it in a well-thought-out way. Once youâre seen as a person who can create a win for everyone â" youâll definitely be promotion material!
